I think a good alternative way to connect with businesses is to do something small (for a designer) for free that would likely connect you with a potential client. Here I show an example of an email I sent out a few weeks back from a random observation I made while browsing online for landscaping companies on Long Island, NY.
I Google search for Long Island landscaping businesses and came across yours. I'm a graphic design for over 8 years and felt I should tell you the black background on the website is disconnecting with the site's story you're telling your viewer.
Having the word "Green" in the name and not using the color in the brand's marketing material isn't taking advantage of its true potential... Please don't take this the wrong way or think I'm mocking whoever created the site (I know it's no easy task!) I just wanted to share a random moment in a designer's mind when they see something that is great but could be easily enhanced for the better.
Something even lighter may work with darker body text...
A few days later they replied back with some print material they've been putting off to create and felt this was a window out of that project!
If I wouldn't have sent this e-mail they would have gone the old traditional Ad Agency route and overpaid for non-personalized creatives.
